In an increasingly globalized business world contact between people of different cultures has become very common. The fact that people can speak to each other using a shared foreign language – i.e. English – does not guarantee communication, understanding or agreement. The aim of this seminar is Intercultural Competence by means of increasing Cultural Awareness, discovering the idiosyncrasies of your own culture and understanding your image the way it is perceived by members of other cultures. You will learn about the most common sources of misunderstanding and conflict, and find ways to communicate, collaborate and accomplish your goals despite different cultural values.
Cultural Awareness – Definition of “Culture”, cultural identification, self-image, stereotypes and expectations
Intercultural Differences – Comparisons of cultures (empirical findings), cultural dimensions, values, norms, behaviour and standards
Main Differences – The six most important differences between cultures that lead to misunderstanding and failure of business relations and joint ventures
Consequences of Different Cultural Socialization on Everyday Life – Expectations towards leaders, decision-making processes, meetings, communication, attitudes towards women, concepts of time
Prevention of Conflicts, Strategies and Solutions, Special Requests
Standard Target Cultures: Europe, USA, China, Japan, India, the Arab World. Particular countries on request.

Increased level of Cultural Awareness
Increased level of sensitivity and tolerance
Awareness and knowledge of the most common sources of misunderstanding and conflict
Developing strategies to overcome intercultural conflicts and hindrances
Ways to communicate, collaborate and accomplish goals despite different cultural values.

Werdegang: Diplom Psychologin mit Spezialisierung auf Sozialpsychologie, Studium in Mannheim und Heidelberg, Berufserfahrung in Lehre und Forschung: Von 1992 bis 1996 wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin und Dozentin am Lehrstuhl Sozialpsychologie der Universität Osnabrück., dabei 1994 zur Prüferin für Sozialpsychologie bestellt. 1998 Gründung von English & Intercultural Communication. Seither Trainings und Seminare für Fach- und Führungskräfte sowie Trainings in Englisch.
Qualifikation: Abgeschlossene 3-jährige Coachingausbildung auf Grundlage der systemischen Transaktionsanalyse (Institut Dr. Mautsch, Köln) Weiterhin in TA Supervision und Intervision. 2019 Ausbildung in Hypnosetherapie
Spezialisierung: Spezialisiert auf Führungsthemen, interkulturelle Kompetenz, emotionale Intelligenz, Konfliktmanagement, Selbst- und Zeitmanagement, Verkauf + Vertrieb und natürlich Kommunikationsthemen ganz allgemein. Alle Trainings in deutsch und englisch.
