Students will review several statistical techniques and discuss situations in which they would use each technique, how to set up the analysis, and how to interpret the results. Der Kurs Grundlagen der Statistik mit SPSS  führt in die angewandte Statistik unter Anwendung von SPSS ein. Sie erhalten eine Einführung in die grundlegenden Funktionen der Statistiksoftware IBM SPSS Statistics mit den Methoden und Verfahren des Datenimports, der Datenaufbereitung, der Datenanalyse und der Präsentation von Ergebnissen. Der Lehrstoff wird unter Zuhilfenahme professioneller Didaktik durch den Wechsel von Input und anwendungsbezogenen Übungen mit SPSS vermittelt.

Der Nutzen des Seminars besteht darin, dass durch den Kurs Anfänger innerhalb einer Woche in die Lage versetzt werden, Daten auf hohem Niveau analysieren und interpretieren zu können. Es wird dabei die führende Statistik-Software SPSS eingesetzt, die seit 1964 fortlaufend entwickelt wird und als Referenz zur Beurteilung anderer Statistikprogramme gilt.
