Overview

This classroom course introduces the base elements, optional features, and servers that are provided in z/OS. It focuses on the system service facilities that are provided by the z/OS Base Control Program (BCP). It teaches the students the functions of major software base elements in the management of jobs, tasks, storage, data, and problems. It also addresses how these functions can be affected by the system programmer.

Students are introduced to the services provided by the servers which execute in the z/OS environments, such as the Communications Server and the Security Server. Installation packaging options and steps to install the z/OS environments also are introduced.

In the SELinux Administration Basic Course, participants acquire comprehensive knowledge in managing and configuring SELinux (Security-Enhanced Linux). They learn how to effectively implement and tailor SELinux in various Linux-based systems. The course focuses on familiarizing participants with fundamental principles and techniques to enhance the security and integrity of systems.



Through hands-on exercises and case studies, participants will be equipped to create SELinux policies, fend off attacks and tailor security policies to specific requirements. Upon completing the course, participants will be capable of successfully administering and optimizing SELinux in various environments.

Overview

The primary goal of this course is to provide the student with a working knowledge of the fundamental capabilities of the Network Installation Management (NIM) facility of the AIX 7.3 operating system. This course uses a combination of instructor lectures and lab machine exercises to provide the student with practical background knowledge of the topics covered. The lecture portion of this course will cover all the information required to create and maintain a Network Installation Management (NIM) environment. 

The course will start with the students examining an existing NIM master. Then, the students will install the filesets required to configure a system to serve as a NIM master and configure NIM resources required to perform NIM operations. They will also have an opportunity to perform several key NIM related tasks. Each lecture is reinforced with extensive hands-on lab exercises which provide practical experience. The idea is to build a NIM environment (NIM master, NIM resources, and NIM clients), then use the NIM master and NIM resources to perform NIM operations on the clients.

Overview

This course is intended for IT professionals tasked with administering an IBM Spectrum Scale storage cluster in environments running Linux and AIX nodes. The course includes information on installing, configuring, and monitoring an IBM Spectrum Scale cluster. Many Spectrum Scale features are described in lecture materials and then implemented in lab exercises. These features include: Storage management, high availability options, cluster management, and information lifecycle management (ILM) tools.

Note: Although the lab environment is running the Linux operating system, the differences in Spectrum Scale compared with an AIX environment are minor. Therefore, the skills acquired during the course can be applied in both Linux and AIX environments.

 

Overview

This course provides an introduction to the SQL language. This course utilizes IBM Data Studio on a Windows 11 operating system, but the SQL queries are appropriate for Linux, UNIX, and Windows environments. 

This course introduces SQL, including syntax, retrieving data from a Db2 table, coding inner joins, arithmetic operations, and scalar and columnar functions. Learners will also explore the UNION function, inserting, updating, and deleting rows, and will use the create table and create view statements.

Students will participate in hands-on exercises to practice what they have learned.
