Course Outline

Module 1 - SevOne v7.2 and Advanced SevOne Data Organization

In module 1, learners will cover the changes in version 7.2 of SevOne and recaps the data organization covered in the original SevOne course (TV00501G). 

Module 2 - SevOne Advanced Cluster Management

In module 2, learners will discuss managing a SevOne cluster. This module culminates with the learners building a SevOne cluster that includes 2 PAS appliances and an HSA fail-over appliance clustered together and sharing devices.

Module 3 - SevOne Advanced Data Collection

In module 3, learners will discover cross-object calculations and synthetic indicators which are 2 advanced ways to manipulate polled data in SevOne for better reporting and alerting.

Module 4 - SevOne Advanced Flow Management Techniques

In module 4, learners will discuss advanced flow management and create a new flow view to be added to SevOne.

Module 5 - SevOne Advanced Alert Management

In module 5, learners will create new trap rules and webhooks in SevOne.

Module 6 - SevOne API v3 (Swagger)

In module 6, learners will discover and discuss the SevOne API documentation and use what they learn to create API calls in Rapid Infrastructure Automation (SANO).

Module 7 - Using the SevOne Command Line Interface (CLI)

In module 7, learners will discover some of the more common commands run by users in the SevOne CLI. This module also contains a lab where users log into the CLI and run commands in their lab environments.

Module 8 - Advanced Reporting

In module 8, learners will learn about enhancements to the Data Insight user interface, identify important out of the box reports, and build a complex report in Data Insight.

Module 9 - Advanced Mapping features of Data Insight

In module 9, learners will create an advanced topology map, use policy filters to filter alerts in data insight, create advanced geospacial maps, and explore the process of adding a tile server to Data Insight.

Appendix A - Monitoring SDWan in SevOne

In this appendix module, learners will discuss SevOne monitoring SD-WAN devices.

Objective

Module 1 - SevOne v7.2 and Advanced SevOne Data Organization

• List major changes and improvements included in SevOne version 7.2
• Review SevOne Device, Object, Indicator hierarchy and data organization
• Access the class lab environment and become familiar with the data organization schema used for this course

Module 2 - SevOne Advanced Cluster Management

• Incorporate new user accounts into SevOne
• Add a new PAS to an existing SevOne cluster
• Add and synchronize an HSA to a PAS for fault tolerance
• Test the HSA fail-over and fall back
• Assign a Virtual IP address
• Use the CSV file process to add multiple new devices to SevOne
• Describe the steps required to perform Device Certification in SevOne

Module 3 - SevOne Advanced Data Collection

• Use Cross Object Calculations (CoCs) to create custom metrics and calculations from multiple indicators across different device objects.
• Create Synthetic Indicators that combine data from multiple indicators into a single, calculated metric.

Module 4 - SevOne Advanced Flow Management Techniques

• Explain advanced flow management in SevOne
• Create a custom flow view in SevOne

Module 5 - SevOne Advanced Alert Management

• Apply advanced SNMP trap management techniques in SevOne
• Describe the steps required to define new traps in SevOne
• Integrate Webhooks into the SevOne trap and alert management interface

Module 6 - Sevone API v3 (Swagger)

Understand the capabilities of the SevOne API structure

Use the Swagger API documentation for quick testing

Use an API to retrieve Performance Metrics

Use the API interface to add a device and alter device properties in SevOne
